The St. Louis Blue have given veteran forward Scott Gomez a professional tryout contract (PTO) to come to camp in September and compete for a roster spot with the club, according to KTRS’ Andy Strickland.
In St. Louis, Gomez will join longtime teammate Martin Brodeur if earns a contract with the Blues.
Earlier this week, incoming New Jersey Devils general manager Ray Shero announced that he would not offer Gomez a contract, making a break with the loyalty of the last regime.
Gomez has struggled in recent seasons, but came into Devils camp last year on a PTO and performed above expectations, earning a roster spot and ultimately posting seven goals and 27 assists in 58 games.
Overall, he’s a veteran of of 1,045 games split between the Devils, Florida Panthers, San Jose Sharks, Montreal Canadiens, and New York Rangers.
