Former Toronto Maple Leafs forward David Booth has taken a tryout with the Florida Panthers, the team announced on Wednesday.
The 30-year-old winger spent his first six NHL seasons with the Cats, after they drafted him in the 2nd round (53rd overall) of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
He played 309 games in Sunrise, scoring 87 goals and 80 assists before moving on to play with the Vancouver Canucks — where he had a 29-point season one year, the best of his post-Panthers career — and a single season with the Leafs.
Now he’s back, following a 59-game, 7-goal, 6-assist campaign with the struggling Leafs.

He last played for the Panthers in 2011, before being traded to Vancouver with Steve Reinprecht and a 3rd round pick for Mikael Samuelsson and Marco Sturm.
Sturm is still around the organization, according the Miami Herald’s George Richards, running the informal player practices.
For Booth, there are some familiar faces. Erik Gudbranson, Brian Campbell and Dmitry Kulikov are still left from the 2011-12 team and he played with goaltender Roberto Luongo back in Vancouver.
Training camp opens soon and there are lots of familiar names enter camp on PTOs. Keep track of it all with the The Hockey Writers’ 2015 PTO Tracker.
