Bobby Allen (born November 14, 1978) is a former American ice hockey player, having played his final year in the NHL with the Boston Bruins during the 2007-2008 season. Drafted 52nd overall by Bruins in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft, Allen returned to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) to play three more seasons with Boston University. He joined the American Hockey League (AHL) to play for the Providence Bruins, but was traded to the Edmonton Oilers midseason for defenseman Sean Brown.
Allen spent the majority of the 2002-03 season with the Hamilton Bulldogs, but did make his NHL debut with the Oilers, playing in one game. He returned to the AHL the following season, playing 56 games with the Tucson Roadrunners and serving as their captain. Allen signed with the New Jersey Devils the following year, but was relegated to the AHL due to the NHL lockout. In two seasons with the Albany River Rats, he set career highs in points with 18 during the 2005-06 season, where he also served as an alternate captain.
He made his return to Boston for the 2006-07 season, signing a one-year contract. Spending the first half of the season in Providence, Allen was called up to fill in and his physical style immediately caught on with Bruins fans. He appeared in 31 games with the Bruins, registering five goals and 18 points. Allen returned the following year, but was limited to 19 games due to back injury concerns. After being diagnosed with two herniated discs, Allen left the game of hockey due to being unable to play.
