Scott Edgar Mellanby (born June 11, 1966) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player, coach, and executive. He primarily played right wing throughout his NHL career, on occasion shifting over to the left side. He is the son of former Hockey Night in Canada producer Ralph Mellanby.

In the locker room before the Florida Panthers home opener on Oct. 8, 1995, Mellanby killed a rat with his hockey stick. He used the same stick to score a pair of goals against the Calgary Flames. Panthers goaltender John Vanbiesbrouck dubbed Mellanby’s performance as “The Rat Trick.” Starting the next home game, Panthers fans began throwing plastic rats onto the ice, and a tradition was born.
