Here are 15 facts about the WBS Penguins as the 15th anniversary season draws closer.
1. The Penguins’ arena is currently known as the Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza, not to be confused with the Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut. However, during the team’s tenure, it’s also been known as the Northeastern Pennsylvania Convention and Civic Center, the First Union Arena and the Wachovia Arena.
2. The team’s first home game was played on November 12, 1999 against the Kentucky Thoroughblades, a now-defunct team who were affiliated with the San Jose Sharks.
