2014 NHL Mock Draft: Three Round Final Edition

Whether it be the Phoenix Coyotes going off the board to take a Blake Wheeler or the Los Angeles Kings selecting Thomas Hickey seemingly out of nowhere, one’s mock draft can be wrecked quicker than Nik Ehlers can do a lap around the rink.

This is one of the most wide open drafts in years, leaving a lot of unpredictability in terms of hammering down where teams have prospects ranked. The City of Brotherly Love instalment of the NHL Entry Draft should be an intriguing one indeed.

Notes:

  • This is not an attempt to rank prospects. This is mere a guesstimate at what teams might choose if they were to draft today based on weighing out best player available with team need and past experiences at the draft table, with an obvious dose of influence from my personal thoughts.
  • The table display approximately 25-30 of the prospects at a time; simply scroll down to view the other prospects.
  • Only a portion of the table displays by default; you can scroll over to see the rest of the player demographics and stats or select “View full-size workbook” option, which is the icon in the bottom right hand corner, to view the full table. You will still need to scroll over to see all the prospects’ information available.
  • To search the rankings, click anywhere on the table, then press CTRL “F” to bring up the search option.
  • Each profile is hyperlinked to Elite Prospects profile page.
  • THW column = The Next Ones Final Rankings: Chris’s List – Top 210
  • This year we’ve also added the 2014 NHL Draft Prospect Index to facilitate easily locating prospect articles; the prospects (>100 profiles) are sorted alphabetically.

Have to agree with Dan. The Islanders really need to build their depth up front, and add some size. Based on your board I could see them pick at 35 one of MacInnis, Cornel or Pollock.

I can’t see the Islanders using their 2nd round pick on a smallish offensive defenseman with Pulock and Pokka in the system and Donovan beating down the door for a full-time roster spot. The system lacks talent on the wings, Dal Colle would greatly improve the depth there but the cupboard still needs to be stocked. If it’s not a winger at 36 I sure hope it’s one of the 3 goaltender prospects.
