Mika Zibanejad isn’t the only young forward the Senators locked up on Thursday. Shortly after announcing the Mika Zibanejad signing, the Senators announced that they’d come to an agreement on a three-year contract extension for Calder finalist Mark Stone.

Stone’s deal comes with an AAV for $3.5 million, with the split on those years running $2.25M, $3.75M, $4.5M, according to the Senators official Twitter. He is coming off a three-year entry level deal that carried an AAV of $873,333, according to General Fanager.
In his rookie season, the 23-year-old winger scored 26 goals and 38 assists through 80 games. He also posted an impressive 2.2% CF%Rel, building on his truncated 19-game campaign the year before, where he posted a 6.0% CF%Rel. Stone had a very good rookie season and the Senators showed that they believe he’ll build on this season by giving him the same cap hit as top line center Kyle Turris.
