The Stanley Cup is making an appearance on the cover of NHL 16 for the first time in the franchise’s history. Oh yeah, two players will also be joining the prized trophy for this year’s version of the popular game from EA Sports.
Revealed during the NHL Awards on Wednesday night, both Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews will grace the cover of NHL 16. This also marks the first time that teammates will appear on the game’s cover. Both Kane and Toews have appeared on it individually on NHL 10 and NHL 11, respectively.
It’s the first time a player will be featured on the cover multiple times.
In a comment to EA Sports after the reveal, Kane stated how thrilled he was to be on the cover for the second time in his career.
Toews added: “I’m honored to not only share the Stanley Cup win with Patrick, but to share the EA SPORTS NHL 16 cover with him too. Our team’s passion and dedication have made this all possible – and I’m sure fans will be fired up about it.”
NHL 16 launches in North America on September 15. Europe will receive the game on September 17.
