The Boston Bruins selected defenseman Jakub Zboril with the 13th overall pick in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.
This choice originally belonged to the Los Angeles Kings, but was traded to the Bruins in a package deal for Milan Lucic.
This is an interesting but smart pick by the New England club whose defensive corp has been completely revamped since their 2011 Cup victory. Andrew Ference and Johnny Boychuk both left within the past four seasons while Zdeno Chara and Dennis Seidenberg are nearing the end of their careers. They also traded Dougie Hamilton to the Calgary Flames earlier today.
Zboril is an in-your-face blueliner that plays with an edge; he earned 73 penalty minutes during the 2014-2015 campaign with the Saint Johns Sea Dogs. He also registered 33 points in 44 games in that same season.
