Mikael Frolik will hop from one Canadian team to another as forward Michael Frolik was signed to a five-year, $21 million deal by the Calgary Flames.
TSN’s Bob McKenzie reports the deal will come in with an average cap hit (AAV) of $4.3 million a season.
Five years, $4.3M AAV for Frolik in CGY.

Frolik was helpful in the Winnipeg Jets run to the postseason with 42 points (19 goals and 23 assists) in 2014-15, which matched his total from the previous season.
Frolik has also been durable in his two years in Winnipeg, as he only missed one game in the 2013-14 season.
He may have come in with a lot of offensive flash in his game, but Frolik has rounded into a solid-two way player that can be relied on to kill penalties, score goals and do all the little things.
Some thought the 27-year-old Frolik could command up to $5 million a season, but the Flames got good value for a player that will fit in on the second or third line and do what he’s asked to do.
The signing is another step in Flames’ General Manger Brad Treliving’s plan to prevent Calgary from regressing after a breakout season for the young team. Calgary has been active this offseason as they acquired Dougie Hamilton from the Boston Bruins. (Hamilton was then signed to a long-term deal.)
Frolik was also a member of the Stanley Cup-winning Chicago Blackhawks in 2013, and that playoff experience could come in useful to a Calgary team that made the second round in 2015.
