Timo Meier Signs Entry-Level Deal - The Hockey Writers -

The San Jose Sharks have signed the 2015 NHL Draft’s ninth overall pick, Timo Meier, to an entry-level contract, according to CSN Bay Area’s Kevin Kurz.

Meier climbed up Central Scouting’s list of prospects for the 2015 Draft with an impressive 2014-15 season with the Halifax Mooseheads of the QMJHL, scoring 44 goals and 46 assists through 61 games in his 18-year-old season. Prior to the last season he wasn’t expected to be a top ten draft pick, but an incredible season had him climbing the ranks.

Meier most likely spends the season in Halifax again, despite entering development camp with good size at 6 foot 1 and 209 pounds. A return to juniors would also give him another shot at playing for his native Switzerland at the World Juniors Championships. In last year’s tournament he posted two goals and four assists in six games.
