On Tuesday, New York Riveters general manager Dani Rylan, who also serves as NWHL commissioner, announced that the team has hired former NHLer Chad Wiseman as the club’s first-ever head coach.
Wiseman was a bit of journeyman in his professional career, playing for 14 years. He was drafted 246th overall by the San Jose Sharks in 2000, making his NHL debut with the Sharks in 2002. He also played for the New York Rangers at the NHL level after being traded in 2003.
Outside of the NHL, he spent time hopping around the AHL, playing for five different clubs including the Cleveland Barons, Hartford Wolf Pack, Hershey Bears, Lowell Devils, and Albany Devils. He also spent time in the DEL, Swedish Division I and the ALH in Japan.
