The KHL season opened earlier this week and there’s been no shortage of highlights already, from Alexander Radulov getting stuffed by Mikko Koskinen to a Tron-like mega opening ceremony, the KHL has been entertaining while the excitement in the NHL has been… I see Tom Sestito got a PTO… and… let me look…
On Wednesday Slovakia’s Bratislava Slovan opened their KHL season at home against Admiral Vladivostok. While Slovan wound up dropping the game 3-1, defenseman Michal Sersen, a 2004 5th round draft pick of the Pittsburgh Penguins, scored an impressive, if not a little lucky, goal from center ice.
Sersen appears to be dumping the puck on net with a solid shot from center ice that winds up going far side on Vladivostok goaltender Ivan Nalimov, who was entirely caught by surprise. It would be the only goal Nalimov allowed on the night, stopping the 30 other shots Slovan would get to him. (Former Anaheim Ducks goaltender Igor Bobkov was his back-up for the night.)
Watch Sersen’s goal below.
