The Columbus Blue Jackets will be missing their big summer acquisition for at least the first preseason match.
Brandon Saad took a puck to the face on Tuesday and is going to have to sit out of Tuesday’s split-squad exhibition game against the St. Louis Blues.
Saad isn’t expected to be out long, despite Aaron Portzline’s gruesome description of the injury.
#CBJ Brandon Saad had one tooth chipped and others bent back into his mouth. Work being done today. Yes, I'm wincing as I type this.

There are no words.
The Blue Jackets acquired Saad in a seven-player swap that saw Artem Anisimov and Marko Dano, among others, shipped to the Windy City.
Last season the Pittsburgh-native put up career-high marks with 23 goals and 52 points. He added another eight goals and three assists through 23 postseason matches, en route to hoisting Lord Stanley’s Chalice for a second time.
