The Boston Bruins have signed goaltender Jonas Gustavsson to a one-year, $700,000 contract, the team announced on Sunday.
Gustavsson came into training camp on a professional tryout and has earned a spot behind Tuukka Rask in the Bruins net.
The soon-to-be 31-year-old goaltender has spent that last three seasons playing for the Detroit Red Wings, where he got a good amount of ice time in the 2013-14 season, playing 27 games with a .907 all situation save percentage (.912 even strength Sv%). Last season, he only found himself in seven games, but posted a .907 Sv% (.937 even strength Sv%). He missed significant time last year with a concussion, which he was only recently cleared from.
