The Colorado Avalanche have signed forward Jack Skille to a one-year contract, the team announced on Tuesday. Financial details of the contract were not disclosed.
Skille had been at Avalanche training camp on a tryout deal.
The 28-year-old Skille must have impressed the coaching staff during camp, because the team also had Curtis Glencross at camp on a tryout and released him on Monday. As a part of making roster space for Skille, the team also sent Dennis Everberg to the AHL and placed Jesse Winchester on injured reserve.
Skille spent the last two seasons playing for the Columbus Blue Jackets, where he got into 45 games last season, scoring six goals and two assists.
Overall, 2005 1st round draft pick (5th overall) is a veteran of 239 NHL games split between the Chicago Blackhawks, Florida Panthers and Blue Jackets.
