The Anaheim Ducks have placed forward Jiri Sekac on injured reserve, according to Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register. The the team announced Tuesday that Sekac’s injury is an ankle sprain.
The team has not placed a timetable on Sekac’s return, but the IR designation means that the earliest Sekac will be eligible to return is Monday when the team faces the surprisingly solid (for now) Arizona Coyotes.
The 23-year-old was injured on Sunday against the Nashville Predators when he took a hit from Gabriel Bourque.
Sekac has just three points through the first 11 games of the season, but that maybe isn’t a great judge of his production this season with the entire Anaheim Ducks team struggling to produce goals. They currently have the fewest goals for in the NHL.
