The Montreal Canadiens have lost defender Jeff Petry during Saturday night’s beating at the hands of the Dallas Stars.
Petry left the game in the second period with an unspecified injury, sustained when he was the recipient of a huge hit from Dallas captain Jamie Benn. That hit separated Petry from the puck and stopped Montreal’s exit, leading directly to a goal by Tyler Seguin, making the game 4-1 Dallas.
Petry played 12:36 with a minus-2 rating before exiting the game.
The club announced at the start of the third period that Petry would not return.
