Latest Rumors:
- Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal believes the Oilers will try and add a defenseman by the trade deadline, or at the NHL Draft.
“…the Oilers will probably have to dangle Nugent-Hopkins or maybe deal Jordan Eberle to the Anaheim Ducks for offensive defenceman Sami Vatanen, who’s really good on the power play. The Oilers’ current defensive crew is not good enough. “
- The Washington Capitals may have to look outside the organization to replace the loss of Jay Beagle.
“Mike Richards, a free agent currently working out with his former junior team in Kitchener, Ont., reportedly has drawn some interest from the San Jose Sharks. Richards won two Stanley Cups with Justin Williams in Los Angeles.”
- P.A. Parenteau, who’s had a bit of a rebirth in Toronto, could be a trade piece come the deadline.
“A productive Parenteau, coupled with his one-year contract, would bring playoff-bound teams to general manager Lou Lamoriello’s door in the days leading to the deadline.”
- The depth on the Minnesota Wild blue line could lead to trades to boost other aspects of the roster.
“Fletcher said the blue-line depth could “absolutely” spur future trades. Fletcher specifically mentioned a lack of depth at center.
“Our defense is the strength of our team, it gives us depth and may give us the opportunity to look at different options down the road,” Fletcher said.”
