To end the 2016 NHL trade deadline day, the Minnesota Wild and Los Angeles Kings have brokered a deal that will send Brett Sutter to the Kings and their AHL affiliate, the Ontario Reign.
Scott Sabourin will be sent to Minnesota’s affiliate, the Iowa Wild.
Sabourin has played in 28 games with the Reign this season with a total of three goals and two assists. He’s also played five games with the ECHL’s Manchester Monarchs, rounding out those games with no points.
In his 153 AHL career games, the 23-year old has 20 goals and 23 assists to his name.
Meanwhile, going the other way is a 28-year-old forward with a fair bit of AHL experience in Sutter.
Sutter’s played in 57 games this season with Iowa. Racking-up four goals and 10 assists, which combine for a total of 95 goals and 149 assists through 595 career AHL games with Iowa, as well as the Charlotte Checkers, Abbotsford Heat, and Quad City Flames.
Sutter also has two goals and eight assists in the NHL, where he played a total of 60 games with the Calgary Flames, Carolina Hurricanes and Minnesota Wild.
And yes, Kings head coach Darryl Sutter is Brett Sutter’s dad.
