He’s small, but his hands and skill are bigger than most prospects working towards an NHL job. In London, Ontario, Mitch Marner continues to impress the hockey world while simultaneously exciting fans of his NHL club – the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Not long ago, we posted a video of a goal Marner scored on February 12 against the Niagara IceDogs tying the game at one. The goal was so impressive, video of it circulated the internet for day after the game.

With just eight games remaining in the OHL’s regular season, Marner’s been a consistent contributor to the London franchise – and will likely earn consideration in next year’s training camp with the Leafs. As co-captain of the the Knights this season, he’s notched 105 points (38g-67a) in just 49 games. He’s third in OHL scoring behind teammate Christian Dvorak (109 points) and Kevin Labanc (116) of the Barrie Colts – both who’ve played in more games than Marner.
But it’s plays like his shorthanded assist on Thursday (March 3) against the Western Conference leading Erie Otters that keep fans interested in just what this kid can do.
Marner with an assist you will see replays of a few times. 4-0 London. #Leafs #OHL

Up 3-0 at home to the Otters, with just over five minutes left in the second period, Marner broke away at centre ice with co-captain Dvorak following up the play. As Marner went in alone, it was his unselfish play that followed that scored him one of the best assists of the year.

The Knights may be fighting for top spot in the OHL’s Western Conference, but the Leafs (and Coyotes who drafted Dvorak) should be very excited about the dominance that Marner has shown in his third season with the Knights.
