Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman Jack Johnson will miss the remainder of the season, the team announced Wednesday. He’s slated to undergo arthroscopic surgery on his shoulder Thursday.
Johnson has missed the last seven games due to this shoulder injury.
He is the team’s time on ice leader with an average of 24:10 of all-situation ice time. This season, he’s posted six goals and 14 points through 70 games. That’s his worst scoring pace since his rookie season back in the 2007-08 season with the Los Angeles Kings.
Since a historically awful start to the season, the team has played well enough to garner 64 points, which puts them above Toronto, Edmonton, Calgary and Winnipeg. They’re just one point back from Buffalo and have a game in hand.
