The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed defenseman Dalton Prout to a two-year contract extension, the team announced Friday. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
However, Rob Mixer of the team’s official site reports that the deal carries an AAV of $1.575 million. In actual salary the deal will pay $1.25 million in the 2016-17 season and $1.9 million in 2017-18.
That’s a pretty solid raise from the $1.075 million deal he’s on right now.
“Dalton is a hard-working defenseman who adds size, strength and physicality to our blueline,” said general manager Jarmo Kekalainen in the team’s announcement. “He is very well respected by his teammates and everyone in our organization and we are very pleased that he will continue to be part of our group moving forward.”
The 26-year-old defender has played 56 games for the Jackets this season, scoring two goals and eight points while averaging 15:47 of ice time per game and logging 87 penalty minutes.
He has also posted a 2.3% score-adjusted CF%Rel this season.
