Toronto Maple Leafs center Nazem Kadri is set to have a hearing Monday with the NHL Department of Player Safety, the league announced Sunday.
In a scuffle with Detroit’s Luke Glendening that saw Kadri’s helmet ripped off, Kadri sought some retribution. After the scrum broke up, Kadri followed Glendening to the front of the net and delivered a high cross check.
The incident will earn Kadri a date with the DoPS.

Kadri has been persona non grata with the NHL lately. Though these fines and suspensions are coming from different places, he’s not far removed from a day in which he received two diving fines and was vocal about his displeasure.
A few days before that, coach Mike Babcock suggested in a press conference — perhaps a bit jokingly, though not entirely — that refs had a note on Kadri to not call anything going against him.

“So that’s four games the memo must be out there that they’re not allowed to call a penalty [on infractions against Kadri],” Babcock said. “It’s got to be over with now. Let’s get on with it. When there’s a penalty let’s call a penalty. Let’s move on.”
So, Kadri’s had an interesting week with local (hockey) law enforcement. When sentencing comes down, it’ll be to his advantage that Glendening wasn’t injured in the game, but he will be considered a repeat offender after a suspension last season for an illegal check to the head.
