The Winnipeg Jets re-signed forward Adam Lowry to a two-year contract that comes with a $1.125 million cap hit, the club announced Thursday. The 23-year-old center has been an effective bottom-six forward who has performed well in his first two NHL seasons. in 74 games last season, Lowry scored seven goals and 17 points with the Jets, as well as four assists in four games for Winnipeg’s AHL affiliate the Manitoba Moose.

The 6-foot-5, 210 pound Lowry is an effective agitator who isn’t afraid to use his body to make a play or disturb play of the opposing team. While the NHL is moving away from fourth lines filled with big, tough grinding players who can’t contribute much else, Lowry has proven that he can also score the occasional goal for the Jets.
Lowry actually isn’t a stranger to scoring at all, as he’s been known to score double-digit goals at every level he’s played at, be-it the WHL with the Swift Current Broncos (where he even scored 45 goals in 72 games in his final season after scoring double-digits in the previous three); the AHL with the St. John’s IceCaps where he scored 17 goals in 64 games in 2013-14; or the NHL, where he scored 11 goals in 80 games in his rookie season with the Jets. As he continues to develop, he could see an up-tick in goals at the NHL level, which would help Winnipeg trend in the right direction moving forward.
