The Winnipeg Jets have signed RFA forward Brandon Tanev to a one-year, two-way deal carrying a hit of $874,000, according to TVA’s Renaud Lavoie.
The 24-year-old wing, and brother of NHLer Chris Tanev, signed a one-year deal as a college free agent with the Jets after completing his senior season at Providence College last year. At Providence, he tallied 15 goals and 28 points for the Friars. The one-year deal that followed saw him grab three NHL games at the very tail end of the season. He recorded two penalty minutes and no points.
The two-way forward was a key piece of the Friars depth over the last four seasons, helping them to a national title in 2015, a season in which he scored 10 goals and 23 points in 39 games.
Tanev will likely be seeing time with the AHL’s Manitoba Moose, as the Jets forward group is stacked with young forwards like Patrik Laine, Nikolaj Ehlers, Kyle Connor and Jack Roslovic.
