Ottawa Senators forward Mark Stone is starting training camp on the shelf. Coach Guy Boucher disclosed Saturday that Stone is dealing with a concussion and will be held out of training camp.
The team gave no timeline for his return, saying only that his progress “will be evaluated daily.” It’s believed that the head injury was suffered during a scrimmage on Friday at training camp.
Stone is in the second year of a three-year contract carrying an AAV of $3.5 million. Last season, the 24-year-old scored 23 goals and 61 points in 72 games. It was his second straight 20-goal season and he’s expected to be a significant part of Ottawa’s offensive production this season.
