One of the tougher positions to draft and fill in a fantasy hockey league, great goaltenders seem to be a rare commodity. Often, secondary goalies are interchangeable on a year-to-year basis and it can make it hard to find NHL calibre goalies to fill out your roster.
Injuries and inconsistency play a role in the ups and downs of goaltenders. Sometimes you get guys like Devan Dubnyk who spent time in the minors, only to come back and have a career year. Other times you get guys like Semyon Varlamov who have stellar years only to struggle the following couple years.
Now, one month into the season, and we’ve had some movement on the list of top 75 goalies in the NHL from a fantasy standpoint. Their rankings take into consideration their projected stats, current win total as well as their goals against average and save percentage. It also considers their long-term availability for those of you who are looking at them for your keeper leagues.
While some of these rankings might not match up to your personal list, I would love to hear what you think about some of the guys on the list and maybe those who didn’t make the cut. Feel free to comment below or find me on Twitter at @AndrewGForbes.
With that in mind, here’s how the top 75 goalies stack up as of November.
