Pierre-Marc Bouchard (born April 27, 1984) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player, having played his final year in the NHL with the New York Islanders during the 2013-14 season. Drafted 8th overall in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft by the Minnesota Wild, Bouchard broke into the league during the 2002-03 season as an 18-year-old. Bouchard spent ten seasons in Minnesota, although he missed the entirety of the 2009-10 season (minus the home opener) due to post-concussion syndrome.
For the 2013-14 season, Bouchard signed with the Islanders but was later traded to the Chicago Blackhawks. He would not play another game in the NHL, closing out the year with their AHL affiliate Rockford IceHogs. Bouchard would spend the final two years of his playing career with EV Zug of the Swiss National League (NL) before announcing his retirement on March 18, 2016. At 31 years of age, Bouchard stated he wanted to avoid any further injury to his brain after missing 13 months with concussion problems.
At the international level, Bouchard represented Canada on three occasions. In 2001, he played in the World U-17 Hockey Challenge, finishing in 5th place. The following year, in 2002, Bouchard played in the IIHF World U18 Championship, this time finishing in 6th place. Bouchard’s last appearance would come at the 2003 IIHF World Junior Championship, where Canada finished in second place, earning Bouchard a silver medal.
