The St. Louis Blues have signed 2015 2nd round draft pick (56th overall) Vince Dunn to a three-year, entry-level contract, the team announced on Friday.
The 18-year-old defenseman put up impressive offensive numbers from the blue line last season playing for the Niagara Ice Dogs in the OHL, scoring 18 goals and 56 points in 68 games. That total was good to have him ranked sixth among all OHL defensemen.
While Dunn earned himself a contract, he was returned to the OHL on Thursday and will play his third season with the Ice Dogs this season.
Dunn enters a situation with St. Louis where he will be given time to improve and hone his skills with the organization holding a very deep blue line.
It’s the kind of situation that could benefit Dunn, both in terms of continuing to improve his offensive skills and giving him time to bulk up, as he only weighs in at 187 pounds.
