The asking price on the Boston Bruins’ second leading goal-scorer Loui Eriksson is high, reports TSN’s Darren Dreger.
He reports that Western Conference general managers are saying the price is a “top player and prospect.”
In the market as it’s played out thus far, that may be a steep price to pay for a rental like Eriksson, even though his 23 goals and 48 points are sure to be alluring to contenders looking to bolster their lineup.
The Minnesota Wild were previously reported to be in talks with Boston about a package that, in total, included Eriksson and 22-year-old defenseman Jonas Brodin.
The St. Louis Blues have also been reported to have interest in Eriksson.
The Bruins have set a high asking price on Eriksson because they’re willing to retain him as a deadline acquisition, in essence, for their own playoff run. Additionally, there’s interest in getting him on a new contract in Boston. Contract talks have happened over the last few days, but progress was reported to be slow and there may be a gap between the two parties on term.
