The Calgary Flames will be the first NHL team to substantially march in a Pride parade when Brian Burke, President of Hockey Operations for the Flames, serves as the Calgary Pride Parade’s Grand Marshal.
The parade will take place on Sunday, September 6 and will feature many players from the Flames as well as a number of Canadian Olympians. Joining Burke from the Flames will be Mark Giordano, Mason Raymond and Matt Stajan.
Additionally, the organizers announced that Chris Overholt, Chief Executive Officer of the Canadian Olympic Committee, will march along with many players from the CWHL’s Calgary Inferno, including Olympians Rebecca Johnston and Brianne Jenner.
Other players marching from the Inferno includes Emily Berzins, Delayne Brian, Hayleigh Cudmore, Jenna Cunningham, Brittany Esposito, Kristen Hagg, Erica Krom and Inferno GM Chantal Champagne.
