With the Boston Bruins entering an offseason with massive cap difficulties, new GM Don Sweeney confirmed what most had suspected: The Bruins are unlikely to re-sign free agent forward Carl Soderberg.
Sweeney referenced possibility of Carl Soderberg being back: “Highly unlikely at this point in time that that will be happening”

However, Soderberg, 29, is likely to get paid this summer and will get much larger offers on the open market come July 1 than he’s likely to get from Boston. As a depth center with scoring ability, Soderberg will be a coveted free agent.
With the team up against the cap, it’s not surprising that Sweeney also confirmed he doesn’t plan on re-signing Gregory Campbell or Daniel Paille.
General Fanager projects the Bruins to have $6,881,190 of cap space before they re-sign RFAs Dougie Hamilton, Brett Connolly, and Ryan Spooner.
