Flames Re-Sign Tyler Wotherspoon

The Calgary Flames have re-signed defenseman Tyler Wotherspoon to a one-year, two-way contract, the team announced Monday. Terms of the contract were not disclosed by the team.

The 23-year-old was a restricted free agent and will be again at the end of this contract. A 6-foot-2 2nd round draft pick (57th overall), Wotherspoon has played NHL games for the Flames in each of the last three seasons, but hasn’t been able to make the gig stick yet. He played a career-high 14 games in the 2013-14 season.

Last season he grabbed 11 games, over which he registered an assist and no penalty minutes. He spent the rest of the season with the AHL’s Stockton Heat, where he contributed two goals and 10 points in 53 games.

UPDATE:
General Fanager reports that the deal is worth $625,000 in the NHL and $125,000 in the AHL with no guaranteed money.
