The Montreal Canadiens have added depth to their goaltender pipeline, signing 18-year-old goaltender Michael McNiven to a three-year, entry-level contract, the team announced on Thursday.
McNiven, who went undrafted in the 2015 NHL Draft, participated in the team’s training camp on a tryout, earning his way into this deal.
Last season, the Georgetown-native played 24 games with the Owen Sound Attack, grabbing 15 wins with a .914 save percentage.
He enters a deep goaltending pool led by last season’s Vezina Trophy winner Carey Price, Dustin Tokarski and highly touted prospect Zachary Fucale.
