21-year-old Vancouver Canucks rookie Hunter Shinkaruk made his NHL debut on Monday night in Vancouver’s OT loss to the Montreal Canadiens.
As a rookie, he’s bound to get a little good natured rookie ribbing, including the classic prank of making the rookie skate laps by themselves at the start of the game when the rest of the team doesn’t follow them out onto the ice.
Watch Shinkaruk take a few laps by himself courtesy of the Canucks on Twitter below.
It’s the sound in this video that makes it sound so terrible. It’s sounds lonely out there.

Shinkaruk wound up playing just 9:35 in his NHL debut laying one hit and a takeaway with no points and no shots in the game.
Shinkaruk, a 1st round pick in 2013, has 10 goals and three assists through 12 games in the AHL with the Utica Comets this season. Last season he posted 16 goals and 15 assists through 74 games with Utica in his first professional season.
