Chris Lamoriello joins general manager Garth Snow’s staff as the Director of Player Personnel for the New York Islanders, the team announced on Friday.
“Chris brings a tremendous amount of knowledge to our organization,” Snow said. “He has more than 20 years of experience in the industry and we are thrilled to have him on board.”
Lamoriello began his career with the New Jersey Devils as part of the scouting staff in the 1995-96 season. From 2001 to 2015, he served as the team’s Senior Vice President and as GM of the Albany Devils, the club’s American Hockey League affiliate. Lamoriello is the son of former Devils GM Lou Lamoriello and during his time with the organization the team won the Stanley Cup in 2000 and 2003.
Lamoriello is joining an Islanders organization seeking to build upon its success in 2015-16 after the team advanced to the second round of the playoffs for the first time since 1993.
“I’m excited for the opportunity to work for such a storied franchise alongside a great management and ownership group,” Lamoriello said. “The Islanders have a great team and I’m looking forward to helping them continue their climb towards a championship.”
Lamoriello attended Providence College and was a member of the school’s hockey and baseball teams before he graduated in 1994.
