The Columbus Blue Jackets have waived defenseman Andrew Bodnarchuk, it was announced on Monday.
The 27-year-old defender has struggled this season, finding his way into 16 games on a porous Columbus blue line. It’s the first season Bodnarchuk has seen NHL time since his 21-year-old season with the Boston Bruins, who drafted him in the 5th round of the 2006 NHL draft.
With Bodnarchuk struggling to standout in Columbus, who are in need of help on the blue line, it seems unlikely that Bodnarchuk will get claimed off waivers.
He has no goals and two assists through 16 games this season with a -4.6% score-adjusted CF%Rel (43.1% CF%).
Bodnarchuk was the only player on waivers Monday.
