Coyotes Re-Sign Louis Domingue

After coming in at the end of last year and playing some good hockey between the pipes for the Arizona Coyotes, the team decided to re-sign goaltender Louis Domingue to a two-year deal.

“I’m beyond excited the Coyotes showed such confidence about my game in signing me for two years on a one-way deal,” said Domingue according to Dave Vest. “It’s amazing.”

The deal is worth $2.1 million over the two years and will carry an annual cap hit of $1.05 million through 2017-18, according to Cap Friendly. Domingue will remain a restricted free agent following this latest deal – so his next contract will have a lot to do with how he plays over the next two seasons.

“We are very pleased to sign Louis to a multi-year contract,” said general manager John Chayka, who’s made quite a splash so far this offseason. “Louis had a breakthrough season last year and we are confident that he and Mike (Smith) will form a great tandem for us.”

After taking over for Smith, the 24-year-old Domingue recorded a 15-18-5 record with 2.75 goals against average and .912 save percentage to go along with two shutouts. His career numbers are fairly similar – posting a 2.74 average and .912 save percentage with a 16-20-6 record.
