The Dallas Stars have recalled the leading scorer of the Texas Stars, Devin Shore, to the NHL club, the team announced on Sunday.
Shore has posted eight goals and three assists for AHL Texas through nine games. It’s an impressive run for the 21-year-old, who was selected in the 2nd round (61st overall) of the 2012 NHL draft.
He’s certainly earned his cup of coffee, with the next highest scorer on AHL Texas putting up just four goals to start the season. However, the team may be concerned that he’s only taken 18 shots so far. An average of just two shots per game and a 44.4% shooting percentage begs the question of whether or not there isn’t a bit of puck luck on Shore’s side that could run out soon or won’t translate well to the NHL level.

Shore finished up his third year of college puck last season with the University of Maine, scoring 14 goals and 21 assists through 39 games. At the end of the season he signed a pro contract and joined AHL Texas for the last 19 games of the season, through which he put in four goals and two assists.
