Devils Sign Reid Boucher to Contract Extension

The New Jersey Devils have re-signed restricted free agent forward Reid Boucher to a one-year, two-way contract, the team announced on Wednesday.

The deal will pay him $715,000 at the NHL level and $70,000 at the AHL level.

Boucher, who is coming off of his entry-level deal, broke through and spent the majority of the 2015-16 season with the New Jersey Devils, tallying eight goals and 19 points in 39 games played. With the Albany Devils in the AHL, he had 19 goals and 32 points in 34 games. He finished the AHL playoffs with 10 points in 11 games.

Since turning pro in 2013, the goal-scoring forward has racked up 59 goals and 105 points in 164 AHL games. In 73 NHL games, he has netted 11 goals and 27 points in 73 games.

Boucher, 23, played two seasons with the Sarnia Sting in the OHL, breaking out with a mammoth 62-goal campaign in 2012-13. He finished the year with 95 total points in 68 games while serving as an alternate captain for the Sting.

The New Jersey Devils drafted Reid Boucher with the 99th overall pick in the fourth round of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

The club hopes that Boucher can break through and provide consistent offense at the NHL level. The Devils have been busy this offseason, trading for forwards Taylor Hall and Beau Bennett and signing free agents Vernon Fidler, Luke Gazdic, Brandon Gormley and Ben Lovejoy.
