Cody Almond (born July 24, 1989) is a Canadian ice hockey player currently under contract with Lausanne HC of the Swiss National League. Almond played his final year in the NHL with the Minnesota Wild during the 2011-2012 season. Drafted 140th overall by the Wild in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, Almond played in two more seasons with the Kelowna Rockets of the Western Hockey League (WHL) before making the leap to the pros. He served as an alternate captain in his final season and enjoyed his best season statistically, ending the year with 27 points in 22 playoff games.

Carrying over his reputation to the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League (AHL), Almond lack of point production was masked by his physical play and steady accumulation of penalty minutes. In his rookie year, he amassed 77 penalty minutes in 48 games, and that number increased to 124 in 65 games the following year. Almond made his NHL debut in the 2009-10 season, appearing in seven games and scoring one goal and finishing with a minus-3 rating.

Almond struggled to receive any playing time at the NHL level, playing in 18 games total the following two seasons combined. After enjoying a two-year stint in the Swiss National League with Genève-Servette HC, Almond returned to North America briefly to play for the Iowa Wild, but left once again for Switerland after just five games. This would be the end to his journey in North America, as Almond remained with the Swiss League, playing for Genève-Servette HC for five more seasons before signing with Lausanne HC. He’s committed to the team for the 2022-23 season and has also represented the country internationally on three occasions, including the 2018 Olympic Winter Games.
