Dustin Boyd (born July 16, 1986) is a former Canadian ice hockey player, having played his final year in the NHL with the Montreal Canadiens during the 2010-2011 season. Drafted 98th overall by the Calgary Flames in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, Boyd’s final season with the Moose Jaw Warriors of the Western Hockey League (WHL) was by far his best, exploding for 90 points in 64 games and serving as one of the team’s alternate captains. He debuted in the NHL during the 2006-07 season, but spent the first two seasons of his time in the NHL split between Calgary and their minor-league affiliate before becoming a regular during the 2008-09 season. His time was short-lived with the Flames, as he was sent packing to the Nashville Predators during the 2009-10 season for a 2010 fourth-round pick.
Boyd appeared in 18 games with Nashville, registering three goals and two assists, while failing to record any points in four post-season games. In the offseason following the Predators’ playoff exit, Boyd was packaged with goaltender Dan Ellis and traded to the Canadiens for forward Sergei Kostitsyn. He appeared in ten games with the Canadiens, recording one goal, and spent the remainder of the year with the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League. After scoring 20 goals in 47 games with the Bulldogs, Boyd opted to pursue his career overseas, signing a one-year deal with Barys Astana of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL).
He regained his scoring touch in Russia, registering no less than 15 goals in each of his five seasons with Barys Astana, earning him a spot on the Kazakhstan international roster. After representing Canada at the 2006 U-20 World Junior Championship and winning gold, Boyd represented Kazakhstan on four occasions late into his career, registering five goals and eight assists in 19 games. Boyd also played in two seasons for Dynamo Moskva before returning to Barys Astana for two more seasons. He announced his retirement at the conclusion of the 2019-20 season.
