Jason Allison (born May 29, 1975) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player, having played his final year in the NHL with the Toronto Maple Leafs during the 2005-06 season. Drafted 17th overall in the 1993 NHL entry draft by the Washington Capitals, Allison played in two games during his draft year, and then split parts of three seasons with the Capitals and their AHL affiliate Portland Pirates. During the 1996-97 season, Allison was involved in a multi-player trade, sending him to the Boston Bruins while Adam Oates went to the Capitals. Allison spent four full seasons in Boston, becoming the captain in his final year with the team.
In October of 2001, Allison was sent to the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for Glen Murray and Jozef Stumpel, and followed up his 95-point, career-high season in Boston with 74 points (19 goals, 55 assists) in 73 games. After missing most of the 2002-03 season and the entirety of the 2003-04 and 2004-05 seasons due to neck and concussion issues, Allison returned for the 2005-06 season with the Maple Leafs. He managed 60 points (17 goals, 43 assists) in 66 games, but was not extended another contract following the season’s conclusion.
Allison attempted a comeback in 2009, earning himself a try-out with the Maple Leafs camp. Despite feeling good during exhibition, Allison was not tendered a contract for the season, leading to his retirement from hockey.
