Devils Under Ownership

On August 15, 2013, it was announced that HBSE, led by Harris and partner Blitzer purchased a majority stake in the New Jersey Devils of the NHL, which includes the rights to operate Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. The transaction was reportedly for over $320 million.

Despite three previous Stanley Cups and an appearance in the Stanley Cup Final as recently as 2012, the success of the Devils has faded during Harris’ ownership. The team has qualified for the postseason just once (2017-18) since he bought the team in 2013, and they lost in the opening round against the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 2018 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
