Max Ellis (born January 18, 2000) is an American ice hockey player, currently under contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs. He played for the Youngstown Phantoms of the United States Hockey League for two seasons before splitting his final year between three teams — Central Illinois Flying Aces, Lincoln Stars, and Muskegon Lumberjacks. Ellis went undrafted at the NHL level but was signed by general manager Kyle Dubas to a two-year, entry-level contract after completing his third and final season with the University of Notre Dame.

Ellis joined the University of Notre Dame for the 2019-20 season, recording one goal in eight games. In the following two seasons, he saw his role grow with the team, leading to more ice time and higher offensive output. Ellis recorded 16 goals and 28 points in 39 games in his final year before joining the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League (AHL).
