Ron Chipperfield (March 28, 1954) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player, having played his final year in the NHL with the Quebec Nordiques during the 1980-81 season. Drafted 17th overall in the 1974 NHL Entry Draft by the California Golden Seals, Chipperfield was also selected by the Vancouver Blazers in the WHA Amateur Draft and opted to play with the Blazers. Coming off three consecutive 100-point seasons, including 162 points in 66 games with the Brandon Wheat Kings of the WCHL, he stepped into the Blazers lineup for the 1974-75 season and accumulated 39 points in 78 games. The team relocated to Calgary the following season and rebranded as the Calgary Cowboys, where Chipperfield would remain for two more seasons. He played with the WHA Edmonton Oilers for two seasons, and one more following the folding of the WHA, becoming the captain in the meantime.
His captaincy with the Oilers lasted just 67 games before Chipperfield was traded to the Nordiques for Ron Low. He played in 16 games spread over two seasons, amassing 16 points and missing the playoffs in both years. Following the conclusion of the 1980-81 season, Chipperfield took his services overseas, playing in Italy’s top hockey league. He appeared in three seasons with HC Bolzano, amassing a whopping 307 points in 84 games and aiding the team in winning three consecutive Italian Championships. Chipperfield retired in 1984 but remained with the club for four more seasons, serving as the team’s head coach, winning two more Italian Championships in the process.
