Buffalo Beauts co-coach, Ric Seiling, will take on double duty for the organization during the 2016-17 NWHL season.
Ric Seiling brings a wealth of professional hockey experience to the National Women’s Hockey League. We’re thrilled to have him back for the 2016-17 season as both a coach and general manager.
- Dani Rylan – NWHL Commissioner (from press release)
This is not the first time Seiling has pulled double duty for a team. The first time was during the 1987-88 season, he was both a player and assistant coach for the AHL’s Adirondack Red Wings.
Seiling played a double duty role again while coaching the Utica Blizzard of the Colonial Hockey League during the 1994-95 season. For one game he laced up his skates as an emergency replacement for the team.
During the Buffalo beauts inaugural season, Seiling and Looney led the team to the first ever Isobel Cup Finals.
Last season we championed what Buffalo is about: hard work and never give up attitude. This work ethic took us to the Isobel Cup finals, and we will look to build on that success and bring the Cup home to Buffalo.
- Ric Seiling – Buffalo Beauts Coach and General Manager (from press release)
As of right now, Seiling will be the lone coach of the Buffalo Beauts. In an interview with Erik Wollschlager of Today’s Slap Shot Seiling explained the reason behind Shelley Looney’s departure.
Her responsibilities with the Buffalo Bisons youth hockey organization have taken priority and she’ll be focusing on that going forward.
- Ric Seiling – Buffalo Beauts General Manager and Coach (from interview with Today’s Slap Shot)
The former Buffalo Beauts General Manager, Linda Mroz, will be taking another role within the organization as Game Day Operations Manager.
Linda Mroz will remain a part of the Buffalo Beauts management team. Mroz will serve as the game day operations manager working directly with GM Ric Seiling.
