The Anaheim Ducks have invited defensemen Sheldon Brookbank and Vitaly Vishnevski to training camp on professional tryouts (PTOs), the team announced on Monday.
The 34-year-old Brookbank has eight NHL seasons under his belt, including a two year stint with the Chicago Blackhawks that included a Stanley Cup Championship in 2013. He also spent four years in the Ducks organization, starting in his 28-year-old season.
The former NHLer spent last season playing for Kazan Ak-Bars in the KHL, where he got into 35 games, scoring three goals and four assists.
He’ll be joined by veteran blueliner and former Ducks draft pick Vishnevsky, who played six seasons with the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim starting in 1999. After that, he played with the Atlanta Thrashers, Nashville Predators and New Jersey Devils in his final two NHL seasons before returning to Russia to play in the KHL.
Vishnevski has spent the last seven seasons in the KHL, primarily playing for Yaroslavl Lokomotiv, playing five of those seasons there in two separate stints.
With the Ducks full training camp roster out, they have also announced that they are bringing in forwards Antoine Laganiere, Kyle MacKinnon, Kenny Ryan, defenseman Eric Knodel and goaltender Ryan Faragher on PTOs.
Lots of familiar names are taking PTOs this season. Keep up with all the tryout contracts with The Hockey Writers’ 2015 PTO Tracker.
