Buffalo Sabres head coach Dan Bylsma said today that Evander Kane will miss the remainder of the season with an undisclosed upper-body injury. The Sabres made the announcement via their official Twitter account.

Kane was forced out of a contest vs. the Detroit Red Wings on Monday night after trying to play through the injury. He didn’t return for the third period and was subsequently ruled out for Tuesday night’s loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Kane’s recovery time is an estimated 4-6 weeks and with the NHL season winding down, his return has been ruled out. He netted 20 goals and 35 total points in 65 games this season, his first year as a Buffalo Sabre.
The Sabres, currently in seventh place in the Atlantic Division and no real reason to risk further injury, also shut down goaltender Robin Lehner recently. Lehner had season-ending ankle surgery yesterday.
